Police have arrested the principal (Muhtamim) of a local madrasha in Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj on charges of repeatedly raping and brutally torturing a six-year-old female student over the last three months by intimidating and luring her.​Following a special drive on Saturday (June 27), Kashiani Thana Police arrested the accused teacher and produced him before a court, which subsequently ordered him to be sent to jail.​The arrestee has been identified as Maulana Md. Mustafizur রহমান alias Zindar, son of the late Abdul Mannan from Ramdia village in Kashiani. He was serving as the Muhtamim of Shaflidanga Rahimdia Shamsul Ulum Qawmi Madrasha and Orphanage in the upazila.​According to the case statement and police sources, the victim is a student at the madrasha. For the past three months, Maulana Mustafizur allegedly lured the child into his office during class recesses with offers of biscuits and chocolates. Once inside, he repeatedly subjected her to brutal sexual abuse and rape under threats of violence.​The final incident occurred on June 25 at around 10:40 AM when the teacher took the child to his office once again and raped her. He threatened to kill her if she disclosed the matter to anyone. However, the child fell severely ill shortly after, leading her to reveal the horrific ordeal to her family.​Following the disclosure, the victim's father filed a rape case at Kashiani Police Station on Saturday under Section 9(1) of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, 2000 (Amended 2025). The case has been recorded as Case No. 24.​Confirming the matter to the Bangladesh Age, Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kashiani Police Station, said, "Immediately after receiving the complaint, the police treated the matter with utmost gravity and launched a drive to arrest the prime accused. He has been sent to jail through the court today. We are taking necessary measures for the victim’s formal statement recording and medical examination."​Meanwhile, the heinous act committed by a teacher inside a religious educational institution has triggered massive public outrage and intense condemnation among local residents. The villagers have demanded exemplary and maximum punishment for the accused teacher.
